16hh Grey Gisborne bred stallion
We are very pleased to have been given the opportunity to stand “Kingi” at this stud from 2012. Kingi has been lent to us by Erewhon Station where he has been used over their full and part Clydesdale mares with great success. We ourselves have purchased several youngsters by Holden Kingston from Erewhon Station and have been very happy with how they have progressed. Predominantly grey, the youngstock are athletic and willing and we fully expect them to develop into stunning sporthorses for hunting, eventing and showjumping.
Kingi was bred at Ngahiwi Station by well known Gisborne horse breeder Bruce Holden. Kingi’s sire, Telesun, is by the Sovereign Edition stallion Telereign, who has some of the country’s best sport horse bloodlines including international Grand Prix showjumper Telegraph and Atlanta Olympic Games silver medallist Squirrel Hill. Kingi’s dam is a granddaughter on her mother’s side of the highly thought of East Coast stallion Panikau (17hh) who is known for leaving super safe jumpers with a cool calm brain and on her father’s side has the jumping bloodlines of the San Mateo stallion Super Stud.
We will be putting Kingi over some of our purebred connemara mares this season, aiming to produce a line of talented, sane jumping horses. With his own athleticism, good temperament and impeccable jumping bloodlines we think we have made a very good choice.
He will be available to a limited number of outside mares.
